distribute the pillows

With a steady supply of Heart pillows being hand-crafted every week, FOHS Hospital Visitors make sure that Royal Jubilee Hospital cardiac patients each receive a pillow and a pamphlet. Over the years, our Hospital Visitors have changed personnel many times, but the message behind the pillows has not: the members of the FOHS have walked this path and are here to offer our support.

“After having had three successful open heart surgeries at the Royal Jubilee Hospital over a span of 27 years, I decided that I needed to do something useful with all the “wonderful” experience I had gained as a patient. I had been given pillows after two of my surgeries and I knew how much they meant to me, so I decided that I wanted to deliver those pillows too. Not only do I get to drop off the pillows, but I also get to engage with patients, answer any questions they may have about the recovery process, and share whatever experience I have that might be helpful. It is extremely rewarding to know that you are helping to make someone else’s journey a little bit easier. Visiting days are honestly the brightest days in my calendar!”
