The History

The original Heart House was started by Jim and Dorothy McDonald. They leased a house on Kings Road and, using their own funds, established the first Victoria Heart House. Their dream of a permanent Victoria Heart House finally came true with the completion of the present building in December 1988. On January 17, 1989, the Victoria Heart House was officially opened by the Premier and dedicated to the people of British Columbia.

The efforts of this Society are endorsed and supported by the cardiac surgeons and cardiologists at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.
